It's mid-October. Still have time to ride.
No Sky-Line Drive ride this year. Events happen, other things take priority.
But in typical mid-Atlantic fashion, the weather is still nice for mid-October. It was 48 degrees at 7:30 this morning, the trek to the gym was brisk. Refreshing.
Yesterday, the Kid and I put his Ninja away for the season; washed it, checked the tire pressure, oil, filled the tank and added fuel stabilizer. We installed the battery keeper, moved the whole thing to the corner of the garage, and then covered it.
When asked why so soon, he simply said "Too cold."
Riding to fill the gas in the Harley, I realized that I was so not ready to give it up for the season.
This morning it was a little colder out, the gym was crowded. But the sun was out and by 10:30 the temperature had risen to 50. Time to ride.
Twenty miles was enough. Heading home and entering the garage,I knew I was right. Glancing at his bike, all covered and protected, I felt a pang of sorrow for the Kid. I'm the one that needs warmth and he the one that like cooler weather, but I'm the one that will bundle to ride.
And bundle I will.
It's SO not time to cover.
Let's ride.
